About our CSA
The CSA
Or Community Supported Agriculture, is a collaborative venture uniting a farmer and community members in a shared commitment. In this mutual endeavor, both parties bear the challenges and enjoy the benefits of small-scale agriculture. Community members demonstrate their support by prepaying the requested amount, providing the farmer with both financial security and capital. While individually modest, this collective investment from all CSA members accumulates into a substantial sum that significantly bolsters the farm's operations.
In return for their CSA membership, individuals are entitled to receive a weekly box brimming with fresh produce throughout the South Florida growing season, spanning from November to April.
Why CSA
Why choose CSA? By supporting this initiative, you actively contribute to a project that enriches the local community, promotes environmental well-being, and empowers us to reclaim control over our food production and consumption practices.
Moreover, purchasing our produce ensures your family receives fresh, just-harvested, and nutrition-packed food. The unparalleled satisfaction of consuming produce teeming with nutrients stems from our proximity to your location, minimizing storage time before it graces your table.
Engaging with your food takes on a personal touch; you'll connect with the individuals cultivating it. Given that food is a paramount aspect of our spending, why not invest in authenticity and know the people behind what nourishes you?
How It Works
How the process unfolds: By prepaying $1,140 for 19 weeks or purchasing a half season share, you secure weekly deliveries of fresh, recently harvested produce throughout our growing season, spanning mid November to April. This upfront payment transforms into a credit, deducted each week based on your ordered amount.
You will have a choice to have your produce delivered on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays which will need to be specified at checkout. At the beginning of each week, we will contact you by email/phone to let you know what time frame we will be delivering your order. There will be no delivery the weeks of November 24, December 22rd and December 29th during the holidays.
Cool Runnings Organic Farm does not offer refunds on any Seasonal Subscriptions. When you become a subscription member, you purchase a share in our production, and we will be dedicating a part of what we grow to you. We do allow members to postpone up to two deliveries during the season if you will be out of town. When you skip a week, we will replace it with a week at the end of the season. Let us know at least one week in advance if you would like to postpone a delivery.
Opt for home delivery at an extra $342 for the 19 weeks ($18 per delivery), or conveniently pick up your orders at Legion Park Farmers Market or Mamey restaurant in Coral Gables on Saturday mornings.
Your CSA Box
The assortment in your CSA box will dynamically shift with the changing seasons and weather. In the warmer weeks, expect a bounty of heat-loving crops like eggplant, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, and robust greens. The milder mid-season transitions to an array of lettuce and greens, cabbage, kale, collards, peppers, onions, broccoli and carrots. While constants such as scallions, radishes, cassava, peppers and more remain.
